Jean Hutchinson: An Experienced Flute Instructor in Louisville
Why take flute lessons? Not everyone wants to be a professional musician, but you can play an instrument and enjoy it throughout your life. There are community bands and orchestras, flute choirs and many other organizations you can perform in. The skills you learn from lessons such as hand-eye coordination, problem solving and reading comprehension transfer well into any career you may want to pursue.
I offer comprehensive lessons for all expertise levels. If you are a beginner looking to start playing, or an intermediate or advanced player seeking to enhance your skills and musicianship, I can help. If you are an adult who hasn’t played flute since high school, I do refresher lessons!

Expand your musical skills
If you are a middle or high school student wanting to audition for Louisville Youth Orchestra, All-District or All State band, prepare for solo and ensemble contest (KMEA), or audition for YPAS, my studio is the place to be! I come to the KMEA solo and ensemble events each February to help my students present a fine performance and accompany them on keyboard for their solos. If it’s time to purchase a new instrument, I make recommendations and will make myself available to listen to the student try out different brands of flutes in order to make the best possible choice for the student’s abilities and budget.
